Potter County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 121,073. Its county seat is Amarillo. The county was created in 1876 and organized in 1887. It is named for Robert Potter, a politician, signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence and the Secretary of the Texas Navy.Potter County is included in the Amarillo, TX Metropolitan Statistical Area.
