Sumedang Regency is a regency (kabupaten) of West Java province, Indonesia. The city of Sumedang is its capital. The regency covers an area of 1,518.33 sq.km, and had a population of 1,093,602 at the 2010 Census; the latest official estimate (as at January 2014) is 1,176,074.The city of Sumedang is famous for its tofu, Tahu bungkeng, that was first produced by a Chinese immigrant from China.
