The 1864 Open Championship was the fifth Open Championship and was held on 16 September at Prestwick Golf Club. Tom Morris, Sr. won the championship for the third time, by two shots from Andrew Strath. There were sixteen competitors.Morris had the first round lead with a score of 54. Willie Park, Sr. was a stroke behind with Willie Dow and Strath a further stroke behind. Morris kept his lead after the second round with a 58 for a total of 112 with Strath in second place on 113.
