(4065) Meinel is an S-type asteroid of the Flora family native to the Main Belt. It was discovered on September 24, 1960 at Palomar Observatory by Cornelis Johannes van Houten, Ingrid van Houten-Groeneveld and Tom Gehrels. The first one to sight Meinel was Rainbow Observatory near Coonabarabran on August 14, 1953.The asteroid is named in honour of the American physicist and astronomer Aden Meinel.
