Abercynon (Welsh pronunciation: [abɛrˈkənɔn]), is a village and community in the Cynon Valley in unitary authority of Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. As a community it is composed of the village of Abercynon itself, Carnetown, Glancynon and Park View with a population of 6428 recorded in the 2001 Census.Abercynon is approximately sixteen miles north of Cardiff and approximately forty miles from Swansea. The rivers Taff and Cynon converge at Watersmeet near Martin's Terrace.
