Alain Le Roy (born 5 February 1953) is a French diplomat serving as Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS)since 1 March 2015. Until August 2011, he served as Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations at the United Nations. He was appointed to the position in June 2008 by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. From December 2011 until August 2014 he served as Ambassador of France to Italy.
