Alfred Polgar (originally: Alfred Polak, pseudonyms: Archibald Douglas, L. A. Terne; born 17 October 1873 – 24 April 1955, Zürich) was an Austrian-born journalist, one of the most renowned intellectuals of the Vienna coffeehouses. He was born in Leopoldstadt. He left Austria in 1938, and later worked in Hollywood.He was known as a drama critic (in Berlin from 1925 to 1933), and as an essayist. He died in Zurich.
