The alpine musk deer (Moschus chrysogaster) is a species of musk deer. It occurs in the highlands of central China, south and west to the Himalayas. Two subspecies are recognized:M. c. chrysogaster, southern TibetM. c. sifanicus, Qinghai, Gansu, Ningxia, western Sichuan, and northwestern YunnanRecords from the Himalayan foothills are now considered a separate species, the Himalayan musk deer.
