Amelanchier australis is a plant species native to Mexico and New Mexico. Some sources consider this to be the same species as A. utahensis but the Plant List regards the two as distinct, so we follow their lead here. Amelanchier australis is a branching shrub up to 2 m (80 inches) tall. Leaves are thick and leathery, ovate to oblong, up to 3.2 cm (1.3 inches) long, the upper side green with small hairs, the underside more densely hairy.
