It is listed as a Grade I listed building and a Scheduled Ancient Monument.The current hall may be on the site of an earlier hall, possibly from the 11th or 12th century. 11th or 12th century: An aisled timber hall was built on the site. (Archaeology in the 1980s found remains of it).
