The Battle of Silao was a military encounter of the Reform War which took place in the vicinity of Silao, Guanajuato, Mexico in 1860. After Liberal general Jesús González Ortega conquered Aguascalientes, he descended with other generals on Guanajuato where Conservative leader Miguel Miramon was retreating with his demoralized army. The Conservatives were overtaken at Silao and brought to battle. After a three-hour engagement, the Conservative cavalry were dispersed and their infantry smashed.
