Brian Douglas Williams (born May 5, 1959) is an American journalist. He is best known for serving ten years as anchor and managing editor for NBC Nightly News, the evening news program of the NBC television network. Nine months after taking the position in December 2004, he anchored NBC coverage from New Orleans of Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath, and NBC News won a Peabody Award for his and his colleagues' coverage of the story.
