Brunhilda (c. 543–613) was a royal woman of the Visigoths who married King Sigebert I of Austrasia, and ruled the eastern kingdoms of Austrasia and Burgundy in the names of her sons and grandsons. The period was marked by tension between the royal house and the powerful nobles vying for power.
