Canningites was the name used for a faction of British Tories in the first decade of the 19th century through the 1820s who were led by George Canning. The Canningites were distinct within the Tory party because they favoured Catholic emancipation and free trade. After the incapacity of Lord Liverpool in 1827, Canning was asked to form a government.
