Cherepovets (Russian: Череповец; IPA: [tɕɪrʲɪpɐˈvʲɛts]) is a city in the west of Vologda Oblast, Russia, located on the banks of the Sheksna River, a tributary of the Volga River, and on the shores of the Rybinsk Reservoir. Population: 312,310 (2010 Census); 311,869 (2002 Census); 310,463 (1989 Census). It is the largest city in Vologda Oblast in terms of population.
