Christopher Ward was editor of national daily newspaper, the Daily Express, between 1981 and 1983. Ward began his career as a journalist in 1959 working at local newspapers, the Driffield Times and the Newcastle Evening Chronicle. He then moved to national daily, the Daily Mirror, in 1963 where he worked as a reporter, columnist and sub-editor before becoming assistant editor at the Mirror and its sister paper the Sunday Mirror in 1976.
