Clancy Sigal (born 1926) is an American novelist and screenwriter born in the Chicago of Al Capone, where his father was a labour organizer, who packed a derringer to protect himself against the Mob. He joined the U.S. Army and served as a GI, rising to the rank of sergeant, in the European theatre and was present at the Nuremberg Trials, where he intended shooting Hermann Göring, but only succeeded in engaging him in a stare-down unsuccessfully.
