He was in private practice in Uvalde, Texas from 1928 to 1964. He was a City attorney of Uvalde, Texas in 1929. He was a County attorney of Uvalde, Texas from 1929 to 1936. He was a Clerk to Vice President John Nance Garner from 1937 to 1941.
