It lies between the cities of Nottingham (15 miles (24 km)) Leicester (18 miles (29 km)) and Derby (14 miles (23 km)). It mainly serves the counties of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Staffordshire and South Yorkshire.
