Blackshear Field is a 6,000-seat multi-purpose stadium in Prairie View, Texas, United States. It is home to the Prairie View A&M University Panthers college football team. The facility opened in 1960.Edward L. Blackshear served as principal of the school, then known as Prairie View State Normal and Industrial College, from 1897 to 1915. Blackshear was born in Montgomery, Alabama on September 8, 1863, the son of Abram and Adline Blackshear. He attended Swayne High School in Montgomery.
