Eriogonum ampullaceum is a species of wild buckwheat known by the common name Mono buckwheat. It is native to an area of the western Great Basin straddling the border between California and Nevada just east of the Sierra Nevada. It grows in sandy stretches of high desert and plateau. This is an annual herb producing a yellow-green or reddish spindly, branching inflorescence up to 30 centimeters tall. The leaves are located about the base of the flowering stem.
