Gernrode is a town and a former municipality in the Harz District, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 January 2014, it is part of the town Quedlinburg. It was the seat of the former Verwaltungsgemeinschaft ("collective municipality") of Gernrode/Harz.First mentioned in 961, Gernrode received the privilege to bear its own coat of arms and seal, commonly regarded as town privileges.
