Dr. Gibril Ibrahim Mohammed is the leader of the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM). He was chosen to replace his brother, Khalil, on 26 January 2012, after Khalil's death in a SAF airstrike in Northern Kordofan in December 2011.Ibrahim was born on 1 January 1955 in Altina, Darfur, in what was then the Anglo-Egyptian colony of Sudan. His father died when he was 4 years old.
