Gilles Julien Hamel (born March 18, 1960 in Asbestos, Quebec) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey right wing. He was drafted in the fourth round, 74th overall, by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1979 NHL Entry Draft.After playing three seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Hamel made his professional debut with the Sabres' American Hockey League affiliate, the Rochester Americans, in the 1980 Calder Cup playoffs.
