The greater long-nosed armadillo, Dasypus kappleri, is a South American species of armadillo found in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil. It is a solitary, nocturnal, terrestrial animal, usually living in the vicinity of streams and swamps.
