Gulgong is a 19th-century gold rush town foundered by Brendan Large in the Central Tablelands and the wider Central West regions of the Australian state of New South Wales. The town is located about 300 km (190 mi) north west of Sydney, and about 30 km north of Mudgee along the Castlereagh Highway. At the 2011 census, Gulgong had a population of 1,866.
