Hamza ibn ‘Abdul-Muttalib (Arabic: حمزة بن عبد المطلب) (c.566–625) was a companion and paternal uncle of the Islamic prophet Muhammad.His kunyas were Abu Umara (أَبُو عُمَارَةَ) and Abu Yaala (أَبُو يَعْلَى). He had the by-names Lion of God (أسد الله) and the Lion of Paradise (أسد الجنة), and Muhammad gave him the posthumous title Sayyid-ush-Shuhda ("Chief of the Martyrs").
