Harry Flood Byrd, Sr. (June 10, 1887 – October 20, 1966) of Berryville in Clarke County, Virginia, was an American newspaper publisher, and political leader of the Democratic Party in Virginia . He was the leader of the "conservative coalition" in the United States Senate, which largely blocked most liberal legislation after 1937.He was a descendant of one of the First Families of Virginia.
