Helmut Janz (born April 11, 1934 Gladbeck, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany-November 19, 2000 Neu-Ulm-Pful, Schwaben, Bayern, Germany) was German track and field athlete. He finished fourth behind an American sweep in the 400 metres hurdles at the 1960 Olympics. Later in the season he recorded a European record at 49.9.He was the German champion at 400 hurdles seven times in a row (1957-1963). In 1963 he was awarded the Rudolf Harbig Memorial Prize.
