James David Cain, Sr. (born October 13, 1938), is a retired farmer and rancher from the Dry Creek community in eastern Beauregard Parish, who is a Republican former member of the Louisiana State Senate. Cain formerly chaired the Senate Insurance and the Agriculture and Natural Resources committees. In those capacities, he was a strong advocate of protecting his state's underground water sources to prevent depletion.
