He was selected by the Ottawa Senators in the 9th round (283rd overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.Born in 1982 in St. Albert, Alberta, DeMone played four seasons (1998 - 2002) of major junior hockey in the Western Hockey League with the Portland Winter Hawks and Prince Albert Raiders.
