James R. Coe (born James R. West in Tompkinsville, Kentucky, on March 20, 1921; died in Indianapolis on February 26, 2004) was a jazz saxophonist.He first played in a band with Erroll "Groundhog" Grandy who mentored J. J. Johnson and Wes Montgomery.
