John Gerald Schwegmann, Jr. (August 14, 1911 – March 6, 1995), was a pioneer in the development of the modern supermarket. Based at Metairie, Louisiana, a large unincorporated city in Jefferson Parish, he owned eighteen stores in the New Orleans metropolitan area. He was a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1960 to 1968 and the Louisiana State Senate for a single term from 1968 to 1972.
