The Kashmir leopard was proposed as a subspecies of leopard in the Twentieth Century, with the taxonomic name "Panthera pardus millardi" (Pocock, 1930), native to Kashmir, in the Indian subcontinent and South Asia. Whether or not it is a subspecies of leopard, separate from the Indian leopard remains to be seen, as with the Nepal leopard.
