He was born in Bedlington, Northumberland.Pearson made his debut for Northumberland against Cumberland in the 1972 Minor Counties Championship. He played Minor counties cricket for Northumberland from 1972 to 1989, making 156 Minor Counties Championship appearances and 11 MCCA Knockout Trophy appearances.
