The Key Largo Cotton Mouse (Peromyscus gossypinus allapaticola) a subspecies of the Cotton mouse (Peromyscus gossypinus), is a slightly larger mouse with a more reddish color than other subspecies of cotton mice from peninsularFlorida. Because of habitat destruction, the Key Largo cotton mouse is restricted to the northernmost portion of Key Largo, Florida, in the United States. It is currently on the United States Fish and Wildlife Service list of endangered species.
