Laura Bates BEM (born 27 August 1986) is a British feminist writer. She founded the Everyday Sexism Project, which has been described as "one of the biggest social media success stories on the internet" in 2012. She is also a contributor to the New York-based, Women Under Siege Project. In 2013 Bates won Cosmopolitan magazine's Ultimate New Feminist Award. Her first book Everyday Sexism was published by Simon & Schuster Ltd in 2014. She writes frequently for The Guardian.
