Lusitanians (Portuguese: Luso, Lusitano), from Latin: Lusitanicus, adjective from Lusitania, the name of a Roman province in the Iberian Peninsula. Lusitania is one of the two official names for Portugal in the Latin language, especially in the Vatican State, as it was also informally or formally, one of the two names used for the country in literature, cartography, and written documents, throughout Europe and Portugal since the late medieval period.
