Manthali is a municipality in Ramechhap District in the Janakpur Zone of north-eastern Nepal. It was declared the headquarters of the district in 26th Falgun 2045 BS because of lack of drinking water and the difficult topography of the former headquarters Ramechhap .At the time of the 1991 Nepal census the former village development committee had a population of 3097 people living in 588 individual households.
