Marshall Silas Cornwell (October 18, 1871 – May 26, 1898) was a 19th-century American newspaper publisher and editor, writer, and poet in the U.S. state of West Virginia. Cornwell served as the publisher and editor of the Gazette newspaper in Petersburg and of the The Inter-Mountain newspaper in Elkins. During his convalescence from an illness, Cornwell began writing poetry, a volume of which was published posthumously in 1899 entitled Wheat and Chaff.
