Maylandia melabranchion is a species of cichlid endemic to Lake Malawi where it is only known from the Mitande Rocks (near Thumbi West Island), Domwe Island, Mumbo Island, the Zimbabwe Rocks and Namalenje Island. This species can reach a length of 10.5 centimetres (4.1 in) SL. It is also found in the aquarium trade.
