Mazurek is a variety of sweet short pastry (a cake) baked in Poland, both at Easter and also at Christmas and holiday season. It is traditionally made of short pastry with edges made of "half-short" pastry. A generous layer of icing (sugar icing, chocolate or kajmak - a variety of dulce de leche - sometimes replaced with melted krówki) is evenly spread over it and then decorated with dried fruit, walnuts, almonds, roasted seeds, etc.
