Michelle Kim Maykin (Thai: มิเชล เมฆินทร์, January 20, 1982 – July 25, 2009) was a well-known figure in the Asian American community who promoted ethnic participation in the national marrow registry, the National Marrow Donor Program. Suffering from acute myeloid leukemia herself, she began a personal search for a bone marrow donor and began the internationally noted campaign, Project Michelle, which was able to register more than 18,000 people as well as find matches for 4 different patients.
