On 18 April 1972 A.D. the Mising Agom Kebang (MAK), the highest body of the Mising people, was established in the district of Dhemaji, Assam. The jurisdiction of MAK is the State of Assam, India and it operates through its branches, named Bangke Agom Kébang (BAK).
