Muscoates is a hamlet in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire, England. It is situated on the River Riccal, 4 miles (6 km) south of the town of Kirkbymoorside.Muscoates is first mentioned in a document of the 12th century. The name is derived from the Old English mūsa cotes, meaning "mouse-infested cottages", or from an Old Norse personal name Músi.
