Myrmecium is a genus of ant-mimicking spiders. The 16 known species occur only in South America.Eugène Simon described the totally unrelated jumping spider species Synemosyna formica as Myrmecium lunatum in 1897; Mello-Leitao described the same species as Myrmecium rubrum in 1932.
