Passiflora coccinea (common names Scarlet passion flower, Red passion flower) is a fast-growing vine, bearing striped, 2 cm passion fruits with edible pulp. Its beautiful dark red flowers share similarities with those of Passiflora vitifolia. It is usually grown by seeds or cuttings. The fruit is quite similar to that of Passiflora capsularis because the fruit of these are the only red ones in the Passifloraceae. It is usually eaten fresh.
