Penrose is an unincorporated farming community in Box Elder County, Utah, United States.Penrose is located along the last 7 miles (11 km) of Utah State Route 102, about 3 miles (4.8 km) south of Thatcher.The community was named for Charles W. Penrose, an apostle for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.The first permanent settler to the Penrose area was C.S. Rowher, in 1890. He, along with others, farmed beets, wheat, corn and hay.
