Peter Shawn Bearman (born 1956) is an American sociologist. He is Jonathan Cole Professor of the Social Sciences in the Department of Sociology at Columbia University and the founding director of the Institute for Social and Economic Research and Policy. He is widely-cited in the fields of adolescent health, research design, structural analysis and social networks. In 2008 he was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
