Republicanism in Australia is a movement to change Australia's status as a constitutional monarchy to a republican form of government. Republicanism is supported by the Australian Labor Party, the Australian Greens and by some Liberal Party of Australia MPs. The 1999 referendum kept a monarchy over an appointed head of state republic model.
